It took more nerves than usual to eventually blog about “My Year In Review” basically because I feel I did pretty badly. I don’t mean God did bad by me; I’m talking more about me not “showing up”, not “living up”, not “being enough”-not just blog wise.
2017 has been a toggle between being lost and being found, losses and wins, battles and challenges. Writing this review, I feel untruthful saying I’ve been more lost than found and that surprises me. Within these few minutes of typing 4lines, God’s goodness to me has flashed before my eyes.It seems like, for every “failure” I want to recount, my memory recalls this wave of goodness, mercy, grace, and love I’ve experienced through the year
“I have lost and I have won
I got it right sometimes
But sometimes, I did not.”
I shared a list of blog-related goals for the year 2017 and I didn’t quite live up to them. I really did believe I was going to begin vlogging this year but I did not. In fact, prior to these “End Of Year” posts, I published last in May 2017 and had just 5 posts up. *Sigh*
One lesson I have allowed to take root in my life is that often times, we make the mistake of letting tough, unpleasant circumstances, errors, and flaws, be the only thing we see. We feed them with so much attention and give them the power to cover the blessings that we’ve experienced; the blessings, miracles, successes, victories that have led us to where we are.

Being aware of this truth compels me to seek the good when all that I see at the 1st,2nd, or even the 3rd glance, is just appalling. Sometimes, you’ve got to seek, as in, search for the good. Other times, it’s easily recognisable. Either way, know that good has always been around/within/upon you. Lean into that!

Having failed at some goals I set, having sat, laid, prayed, cried, for some prayers to be answered my own way, I’m grateful for any goal that was reached and even more, totally grateful for the blessings I didn’t pray for!!!
I’ll share a few:
GRADUATING FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL: This was a big deal! My life is never the same after those 6 years. Making it through every day of med school was a testimony on its own. I mean, E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y. If you haven’t seen the 2minute video on highlights from my graduation, check below. I should share more about this plus more photos in the coming year.
GROWTH IN RELATIONSHIPS: Be it with my biological family or the family I have by adoption,(lol), I experienced more openness, honesty, etc. My friends have been tremendous people. It’s right to say that our struggles brought us so much closer and we’ve not stopped lifting one another up. Boy! am I grateful. The gift of friends and family is one we must unravel patiently. We must nurture it intentionally. It usually isn’t an already perfected package. I met very inspiring people this year😭😭I didn’t see that coming either.

BLOG FEATURES: I got to interact more with bloggers and other readers. I’m grateful for those creating great content and all who read. I also got featured on “Love Like It’s Confetti” where I talked about “All That You Are-Unwatered Down” and I currently have articles to be featured on 2 other blogs
OPPORTUNITIES: I got to work with Slum2School Africa!!! This should be a post on its own because there’s a background story to it. Helping to fundraise for kids in the slums to go to school was beautifully demanding (esp.as a first timer) and absolutely fulfilling. I created content/media managed alongside this guru, URSULA SEBASTINE for a faith, friendship, and fun network. I got contacted to be a contributor for some media sites I respect.
MOVING BACK TO NIGERIA: After 6 years, I moved back to Nigeria. This is full of many tales and with time, I’ll be sharing. I’ve had interesting/refreshing conversations, lots of lessons, a lot of down moments as well, disappointments, loss, blessings, name it!
With people hardly believing I’m more of a double introverted human, I was still pulled out to host the red-carpet for an event alongside a pro, Limoblaze 😫 I was honored all the same.
I could break these into long tales but these I consider some wins in 2017. I learned pretty amazing lessons in this year and I was able to teach them to others as well.
With just a few hours to the new year, I am not necessarily pumped up. I miss the wonder in my childhood heart as we anticipated the crossover. One thing is for sure, I am taking responsibility for my life. I am taking responsibility for that which I’ve been given (time, people, opportunities, etc) and that which I have received.

Last year, I said 2017 was going to be a defining year for me. This year, I am saying that by God’s Grace, I am defining 2018.
I’m going to be an active participant in all that concerns me.
Finally, this heart has known pain, guilt, fear but the strongest things I’ve known remains love, faith, hope.
I am unstoppable. I rise and believe me when I say that this could be your best year yet.
With a heart full of so much love, I wish you all an unforgettable year-May your memories of 2018 be for good.
Cheeeeeeeeeers!!! There’s still purpose calling out your name.
