In a powerful display of military precision and resolve, India has successfully concluded Operation Sindoor, a focused counter-terrorism mission that targeted high-value terror hideouts across Pakistan. The Indian Armed Forces, during a high-profile press conference on Sunday, confirmed that over 100 terrorists were neutralized — including key figures linked to the 1999 IC-814 hijacking and the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

The unprecedented operation, which spanned from May 7 to May 10, led to the destruction of nine major terror hubs located inside Pakistani territory. This marked one of India’s boldest and most coordinated strikes in recent history, aimed squarely at dismantling cross-border terrorism networks.

Addressing the media, senior military officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Force spoke in a united tone. Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), stated that while India mourns the loss of five brave soldiers, the mission was a decisive blow to the infrastructure of terror. In retaliation, it is believed that the Pakistan Army suffered 35 to 40 casualties due to India’s intense artillery shelling and small arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC).

The Indian Air Force (IAF) played a pivotal role in the operation. While the IAF acknowledged that “losses are part of combat,” they also confirmed that all Indian pilots involved in the missions are safe and have returned home — a point that drew collective relief and pride across the nation.

On the diplomatic front, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on Saturday evening that both India and Pakistan had come to a mutual “understanding” to halt all military hostilities. The agreement, which he clarified is not a formal peace treaty, marked a pause in escalating tensions following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed multiple civilians and security personnel.

Interestingly, despite the ceasefire announcement, cross-border shelling resumed shortly after, particularly along the Jammu border, according to Border Security Force (BSF) officials. “There was heavy firing till around 7:30 p.m., and our forces responded appropriately,” one BSF officer confirmed.

India has made it clear that this ceasefire will not reverse or water down punitive measures taken post-Pahalgam, which include heightened diplomatic isolation of Pakistan and economic sanctions against entities supporting terror.

Commodore Raghu R. Nair sent a stern message during the briefing, saying, “Every misadventure by Pakistan has been met with strength, and any future escalation will receive a decisive response.” His comments came shortly after the U.S. President publicly announced on social media that a ceasefire had been reached, followed by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirming that the DGMOs from both nations had agreed to halt military action.

The situation, while tentatively calm, remains fragile. With both nations walking a tightrope between diplomacy and defense, the coming days will be critical. India’s unwavering stance is clear — it seeks peace but is not afraid to respond with power when provoked.

Final Word

Operation Sindoor has not only showcased India’s military might but also its ability to coordinate across services for swift, targeted retaliation. While the ceasefire brings a sigh of relief, the underlying message from India is loud and clear — terrorism will never go unpunished, and national security remains non-negotiable.
